Graffiti - Construction equipment 27/06/08 updated Close up of "s" section - I was wondering how I would do curved letters using straight blocks. It wasn't as hard as I thought - just have to look at how earth moving equipment deals with bends in its joints. Usually there are cables carrying the hydraulic fluid to the pistons so i used that to make the curves more noticeable. It wouldn't be that hard to develop a whole alphabet based on this style. All that is needed is the basic structures for a few letters and the rest would be easy. I started this work with just the angle of the vertical section of the T - repeating that angle at least gives some form of consistency to the work.
.\\ At long last heavy mechanical design! These are boring renders but it would be good to put a hdr image for reflections and composite this into a construction site.. add a few rust and dirt textures to this and it would look pretty good. Or create a few different words and put them doing different tasks in a site - one would definitely be a cement mixer, the mixer part would make a good element to build lettering around.
